Step One For Pussywalking: How to Tap Into Your Sexual Energy for Confidence and Power
By Sasha Cagen.
This guide is for all curious women, those with XX chromosomes, or anyone who identifies with feminine energy. Why simply put one foot in front of the other when you can move with the confidence that your pelvis holds the universe’s secrets?
As a life coach specializing in women’s empowerment, tango dancer, and writer, I preach the gospel of pussypower, making people rethink everything they thought they knew about confidence.
I am here to tell you about pussywalking. Yes, pussywalking.
In this three-part series for Shame-Free Sex, I want to walk you through tapping into the power of the pussy, how you can do it, and how tapping into your clitoris’ treasure trove of nerve endings can change the way you walk through the world.
Reclaiming Language and Overcoming Shame
Let’s address the terminology first. The word “pussy” might initially trigger discomfort or even shock—I understand completely.
Growing up in Rhode Island, where the Puritanical anti-sexuality vibes were strong, I cringed when I first heard this word in female sexuality workshops.
When I was growing up in the eighties and nineties, young guys yelled the word out of cars at me and my friends when we were going out at night.
The word “pussy” felt like an insult, violent, and scary. It also got associated with pornography, the kind that reduces women’s bodies to objects, or holes, rather than celebrating us and our pleasure.
Two decades later when I heard other women embracing the word, I allowed myself to try it on. The longer that I played around with the word “pussy,” the more I realized that stepping into the taboo and reclaiming it could be powerful.
Why is “cocky” confident and pussy is weak? Pussies aren’t weak—they birth every human on this planet. The word “pussy” can be fun, if we allow it to be. It evokes a pussycat. It evokes purring. It evokes pleasure.
Getting comfortable saying the word ‘pussy” can even lead to greater comfort with talking about sex with a partner, when we reclaim language to talk about our own bodies in an uplifting way.
The first step of learning how to pussywalk is taking stock of the shame we have been living with and the way we think about our bodies, then clearing it away so that we can have some fun.
Understanding Female Sexual Anatomy: What You Were Never Taught
Did you know the pudendal nerve—which connects our genitalia to our brain—derives from the Latin word “pudere,” meaning “to be ashamed”? We are walking into this conversation with centuries of silence surrounding women’s bodies.
Many girls grow up without learning the proper words for their sexual anatomy. Why? Perhaps because sexually empowered women who enjoy pleasure for their own sake become harder to control—they speak up and ask for what they want!
A little-known fact that has been suppressed throughout history is that the clitoris is not just a little button.
The clitoris is actually an internal structure that many people find mysterious and mystical. It encircles the vaginal canal and the entire structure is filled with nerve endings that have no purpose other than pleasure. That’s right. No other purpose than pleasure.
This information was brought to us by Helen Elizabeth O’Connell, an Australian urologist and pioneer in the study of female sexual anatomy. The Guardian reports, “The first comprehensive anatomical study of the clitoris was led by O’Connell and published in 1998. A subsequent study in 2005 examined it under MRI.”
The clitoris was “not, O’Connell discovered, just a small nub of erectile tissue, described in some texts as the ‘poor homologue’ of the penis. Instead, it was an otherworldly shape, with the nerve-rich glans merely the external protrusion of an organ that extended beneath the pubic bone and wrapped around the vaginal opening, with bulbs that become engorged when aroused. It looked like an orchid. It was beautiful.”
I’ve shared these facts with many women over the years. They look at me dumbfounded.
Why did we have to wait this long for O’Connell to shine light on the truth of clitoral anatomy? The ignorance of the medical establishment has not only diminished our self-knowledge. It’s led to surgeries that have damaged women’s capacity for pleasure because this research was not taught in medical school.
With proper understanding of our bodies, we can begin to play with what is possible.
Why Pussywalking Matters
Our pelvis functions as the central organizing wheel of our bodies. My research with women over thirteen years demonstrates that we don’t need sexual activity to tap into this power center—we can access it through intentional movement, breath, visualization, and awareness.
In the 1960s, Martha Graham, the legendary modern dance teacher, instructed her students to “move from your vagina.” Her dance training company became known among her students as “the House of Pelvic Truth” because she understood this fundamental connection between pelvic awareness and powerful movement.
Similar to Graham’s teachings, my approach to pelvic truth focuses on helping you connect with this powerful energy center. Actors, public speakers, and dancers have intuitively discovered that connecting with this part of the body creates a more powerful presence.
The Benefits of Pussywalking
Pussywalking isn’t just about walking—it’s about:
- Building confidence through subtle pleasure (we are not talking about the big O–we are talking about a purring pleasure energy that you can fire up and feel throughout your day)
- Cultivating radiance and magnetic presence
- Enhancing your ability to manifest fun connections and opportunities
- Reconnecting with your body’s innate intuition
- Finding joy in movement and embodiment
This practice isn’t for the meek. It’s for those who want to move through life with pleasure and power. Will others notice? Perhaps. But more importantly, you’ll feel different—sometimes subtly, sometimes profoundly. Like a yoga practice, your pussywalk will evolve daily.
Since 2012, I’ve taught pussywalking to women both in-person and online. I’ve never seen a woman’s walk remain unchanged after discovering this energy.
What’s Coming Next
In the upcoming parts of this series, I’ll share:
- How to practice pussybreathing to awaken this body area through breath, awareness, and visualization
- How to incorporate this awareness into movement, taking your pussy power with you wherever you go
